Kasual Corner: Week 5
"If you were to book the CM Punk/Ryback match this sunday, what would the finish be, knowing that Punk shouldn't lose the title yet, and Ryback shouldn't have his streak ended yet either."
Submitted by Jeremy "Hawtazz" Staples
Well considering this weekend's event between the two will be a Hell in a Cell match, the only ways to lose are pinfall or submission. I honestly don't know much about Ryback or his moves, but I do know that when it comes to submission moves, Punk would probably have that ish in the bag. However, I'm not sure if this match will end in submission, only because I haven't noticed too many matches end in that way. Pretty sure that once Cena pretty much went BALLS OUT in a match, getting the shit beat outta him, and DIDN'T QUIT, anyone else who submits is seen as the ultimate pussy. Therefore, I believe pinfall will be the way this match ends. NOW, who will have the pinfall? I'd love to say that it would be Punk. That's my ultimate hope. I honestly believe that Ryback will come out, scream that people need to feed him MOARRRR and then shoot his load early. Sayyy 15 minutes into the match, I think Punk will dominate. I've learned recently through the beauty of documentaries, that Punk has some SERIOUS stamina. I think that as long as he can hold out while Ryback ruts and grunts around the ring, he may have a fighting chance in keeping his belt. I'll tell you this right now... If Ryback wins Punk's belt, I will seriously write McMahon a letter. "Dear Vince: You've always been an ass, but you've gone too far. Suck my dick. Sincerely, Bethany." (btw, if this actually happens, I will DEFINITELY write this letter to Vince, and will promise to scan a copy of it to post on Kayfabe Corner!)
So here's my thoughts on this. I really think Punk will retain his belt and stature, but that within the next week after the PPV or so, Ryback will beat him to a disgustingly bloody pulp, in his "feed me MOAR" fashion, as revenge for this missed chance on Sunday. At that point, some group will work together to try and dethrone Punk and make him look like a bitch.

"Do you think large factions could work in the long run in WWE now? I know Nexus was around a couple years ago but they turned into nothing but a glorified punching bag for John Cena. I mean a group on par with DX (Outlaws/Pac/HHH), nWo, or the Nation of Domination."

Here's what I think, Chris. I firmly believe that the whole 'gang mentality' doesn't really work anymore with new groups, unfortunately. Once they're assembled, wrestlers end up finding the weakest links and afterwards begin to disassemble the group, by removing each weak link first. Really, I think you kinda hit on something by mentioning Nexus in your question... Back in the good ol' days, it was AWESOME to band together, and have that "pack mentality". You were seriously bad-to-tha-muthufuckin-ass if you had an 'in' with someone who had a group of people that backed your ideals, and would be willing to throw some bitches around in a ring for them. Nowadays though, I think the way this show has been, and the way society has been as a whole, we are all going against the grain, so to speak. Everybody wants to be unique, or wants to boast to say they've gone beyond the 'pack'. What was once the most intimidating factor in real life and in entertainment has now become somewhat of a laughing stock.
This is only because all these people have their own agendas. They always have. And now, that angle has become the forefront, and that's where I think it'll stay. We're an egotistical race. Otherwise, why would I pride myself on writing for a WRESTLING BLOG, when I know almost nothing about it? Because I want my shit to be seen. I want people to know what I have to say about a subject, even though I'm not an expert. *hairflip, wink*
Long story short, the 'pack mentality' is pretty much gone from humanity, unless you example the "Occupy Movement"...which I won't, because politics and Bethany don't mix. As far as what entertains a crowd, and as far as what I think poor little Vince thinks in his head when he tries to believe he knows what's best for his fans goes, a group faction wouldn't work nowadays with WWE only because they're trying to evolve the same way society is, and people are really trying to get away from a 'gang mentality', which would be what most people would view any faction as being. It wouldn't matter how awesome each wrestler was singularly, UNLESS they're represented singularly, they're nothing. This being said, I'd LOVE to see a group of 5 or 10 AWESOME wrestlers all band together... Then again, my reason is because I'd love to see how exactly each person is picked apart from the others... I'm the majority in this, I think. Just so I can see how they're picked apart. Then again, that's my own little fascination. I'm also a people-watcher, so that's just my thing.
So these are my thoughts this week. Awesome questions!! I REALLY hope they continue, as they consistently feed my ego... Thanks for reading! *blows kiss*

Kasual Corner: Week 4
First question, by Ryan Brewer: Ok, so this week I'm going to answer a seriously HARD QUESTION that Ryan Brewer asked during the opening week of my segment. I will admit, I begged and begged (blowjobs might've ensued thereafter) to get this question either put to the very back, so they did, as this is week 4. Let's not immediately jump to conclusions that I'm orally amazing. I apologize Ryan, as your question at first threw me into this spastic "WTF IS HE TALKING ABOUT" mode. As per the rules, I had very limited research time, but withheld my right to asking Jeremy questions, as I was SO LOST even after all my research, that I eventually said "fuck it." and wrote something up. Here goes:
"Back in the 80's the Four Horsemen were redhot in the NWA but they were dwarfed by the promotional juggernaut that was WWF and it's promotion of Hulk Hogan. What would the effect have been if the Horsemen were WWF and Hulk was NWA?"
Submitted by Ryan Brewer
First of all? NWA means more than what I realized growing up listening to music...*blushes*
Here's what I've figured out: Honestly, I really think that one person's charisma won out over a group of people's strife against something that meant something to them. I read the backgrounds to both the Four Horsemen and Hogan (briefly, mind you), and can surmise that really the face won out... Hulk Hogan, while being a heel to start, was REALLY good at connecting...and McMahon took advantage. Shoooot, who wouldn't? Hogan had made movies, flexing his unnaturally tan muscles while whipping his unnaturally blonde hair around, saying cute things like "Thisandthat, Brother!" ...and then you know, anything else that ended in "Whatcha gonna do..."
Now what was NWA supposed to do, to battle this? ...I have no idea. I actually only read about the NWA as a group, and its past and present members. What do you expect of me? I can't be an expert overnight. *huffs* ...They were actually super awesome. First of all, they started out before most of our parents were born. ...jussayin'. After that, they kicked ass until they were competitors with the very own people who like to monopolize this wrestling thing nowadays. Unfortunately, the 'gang mentality' pretty much lost its grandeur sometime in the early 90's, when that shit started to get you actually SHOT ... like, "minding your own business, but now you're shot dead" shot. I kept my ass outta that stuff...*pussy move, but ALIVE* If any of you dig up "Crip Photos" of me, then well..go to hell. In the wrestling world, that meant... Oh shit! Things be gettin' real.. "Where's the Golden Boy? Hogan? That dude in the babysitters movie, that saved kittens, and also I heard he had a wrestling gig?" *hair flip*
Alright...so if they switched? Well JEEZ. I think it'd be almost the same as it is now... While that 'face' was so important then, so would be the "ultimate bad guy". NWA was obviously really good at bringing out true character. I really think it was a great battle of "WHO'S AWESOME AND LOVES FANS" vs. "WHO'S AWESOME AND MAY HATE YOUR GUTS BUT WE'RE FUCKING FANTASTIC OTHERWISE"... This sucks. Either way, both sides would catch your attention. Faces and Heels, both play an integral part in this business, but I'd say that the popular ones seem to be more 'face' than anything. I really think that instead of the Four Horsemen being a group of people being more "divided/slash/heel/", they could've been something "much greater" in the WWE (slashF). Then again, that's only if by 'greater' you want to be someone who's later tossed aside because the bigger version meant you give up everything you've worked for...

"Out of the current shows, which is the one you would watch on a weekly basis?"
Submitted by Michael Lierman
Alright, so I barely watch. When I do, it's mostly RAW only because, well, you know why. It's pretty much the most popular. Honestly, a lot of good wrestlers that I'm interested in show their faces on Smackdown. ...Then again, that's where Booker T. is too. Goddammit, I can barely stand him during pay per view events. Let's not say that TNA or any of the Indies have had bad wrestlers, either. Like I said, I'm a KASUAL FAN. Sooo, it's more mainstream for me. That being said, I should probably avoid Booker long enough to watch Smackdown a little more, at least. Then, with TNA, I get to watch some of the classic dudes that have been around the block more than a few times go at it too. Not to mention they seem to have a MUCH more fan-involved procedure when involving new talent. Maybe they're learning from past mistakes with newbies (reference my first post if you don't know what I mean)? I also won't discount the Indies, especially ROH since that's the one I hear referenced the most... A lot of good names have come from those companies. I'm not a hater. I'm just not educated. I think if I chose one, I'd choose RAW only because that's the one I can follow and mostly understand for the most part. Check back with me in a couple months, and this answer may change. I realize my blog has been SUPER LONG this week, and I so appreciate anyone who's cared to read the entire thing. I love you muchos, and CHEERS to another semi-sort of-educated week for me! *girly chug*

"What is needed to make the Divas Division and the Knockouts Division viable and exciting, and more than just eye candy?" Submitted by Dustin Leigh Goetz
Ok, so I'm a little torn here. On one hand, I'm totally all for women being treated as equally as men. TO AN EXTENT. I am more than a sex symbol *struts sexily...just kidding!*, and I believe that if women want to go forward in a business, there are better, more SANITARY ways of doing it than sleeping their way to the top. Right now, as in the past, women really don't have a good place in wrestling, but for different reasons in my opinion. I really think that back in the day, before everything was politically correct, we should've made our move in the professional wrestling biz. For starters, while most managers and other promoters would've laughed their faces off, the women who truly wanted to be EQUAL in this business would've made it through. It just takes wanting something enough. Then again, there were chicks who made big names for themselves in WWE (F) by making it their own way, which usually resulted in them using their female wiles, so to speak. I won't lie and say that most women aren't against using them when it's convenient. It's an "inconvenient truth". Suck it. Eat it. Like it.
All that being said, Dustin, I have a few opinions about it all. First of all, can I just say that Chyna is AMAZING??? She was the first fucking woman to stop her stupid womanly shit and say "You know what? I'ma fight these guys. Also, gimme your belt. It matches my earrings.". ...Did you hear that ladies? She was the FIRST WOMAN to fight in the royal rumble - Unless I totally researched some wrong shit, and I'm wrong. If so, flame away. From what I know, Chyna is fucking badass, and the epitome of what I think bitches need to be in order to be taken seriously.
Dustin, you wanna know what girls need to do in order to be looked at seriously, and not eye candy? Well, for starters, certain knockouts need to re-consider rubbing their little snatches along the ring during their entrances. Yes, I actually believe that the little girls who wanna come out and wear skimpy clothing play an integral part of every wrestling show. When you get that many amped up, sweaty men in one crowded area, some estrogen is needed to calm shit down, usually.
Dustin, I actually believe that a LOT of these bitches have potential to be WAY more than what they are. As a chick who watches wrestling occasionally, the "cat fights" are honestly less than enticing. And judging by concession lines when we've actually gone to see wrestling shows live, a lot of guys agree. Cat fights are awesome, but unless there's the possible 'slip-a-nip', it gets boring fast. In a perfect world? We'd keep the sexy cooch-all-over-the-ropes routine, but would follow up with chicks who can actually do more than flip around like a cheerleader and pull hair. Seriously, Chyna can Tombstone someone. Jussayin'. PLUS SHE'S IN PORN. ...Let that sink in.

"Rumor has it Vince is looking for the next top guy to replace Cena. He wants someone young, so that rules out Sheamus, Punk, and Orton. Out of the current roster, who do you think it should be, AND who do you think it's most likely to be?" Submitted by Bret Bealer
So rumor has it that Vince McMahon wants a new younger, fresher FACE for WWE, to replace John Cena. Let me say that while I'm rejoicing the fact that Cena may not always be on my television touting his amazing awesomeness, I'm actually a tiny bit sad that he'll be 'replaced'. He was my son PJ's biggest idol for a few years, until Jeremy showed him the way of wrestling, to which PJ quickly sang a different tune. ...I'm off track. *hair flip* Anywayssss After looking at the roster, I have looked at WWE's new youthful "face" hopefuls. Here's what I see:
Antonio Cesaro: He's actually really decent in the ring, the couple matches I've seen him in. Plus, he speaks multiple languages and stuff. BUT, what has he really done one way or the other to show that his soul is "good"? Nada. Coming from my own opinion on him, I have no idea what storylines (or lack thereof) he's been a part of, but whatever... *snore* He's bilingual. Whatevs.
Then there's Alex Riley. Jeremy told me to not even waste my time with him since he hasn't done anything for forever, and is just a jobber...whatever that means. But anyways, I'm a sad panda that he probably wouldn't be considered, only because I'm a Miz fan, as some of you might know, and the slightly "more than friends" relationship that Alex shared with the Miz was super cute, and after watching him wrestle, I really think he could've gone places. Other names on the roster are Damien Sandow (I know NOTHING about this guy, good or bad...you're welcome), Cody Rhodes, Heath Slater, Ryback and Wade Barrett.
Dude. This Ryback guy freaks me out. Not only is his face too small for his facial structure, which gives him a cartoonish expression, his gimmick is "FEED ME MORE!"? ...really? So you're an averagely huge human with the ability to freak people out by throwing nobodies down on the mat, and then screaming at the crowd "Feed. Me. More!" at the audience? ... I'm pretty sure I had a more worthwhile experience watching Jurassic Park in 3D for the very first time. Jussayin'. It's my opinion, not yours. *sticks tongue out*
First part of the question, who do I think SHOULD be the new face? I'm gonna go with Cody Rhodes. He has actually had some interesting surface-level storylines and because it partly resembled Phantom of the Opera, I dug it. I'd LOVE to see him as the 'popular vote', but at the same time, the ultimate villain could be played better. Plus, he has proven himself in the ring, fo sho. So for who I think really will be the "new" John Cena? I think that Wade Barrett is going to be the new face. He's played both a face and a heel. I think that with a great storyline and gimmick, he could be just as muscle-awesome-tastic as Cena. I really think that elections or not, Vince is starting to realize that society is different nowadays, and the 'face/heel' roles may be harder to decipher now. That's my vote, Bealer.
See you next week!

"As a mother, what are your feelings on the ”PG Era” and how long do you think it will last?" -Submitted by Bret Bealer
Ok, so while this is an 'opinion' piece... *hairflip*, I decided to try and research a little bit about what other people who actually LIKE PG wrestling had to say. I was given a half hour tonight of research time, since I have 3 questions I'll answer. Be patient, they're all awesome questions! Alright. What do I think (as a mom) about the PG era, and how long do I think it'll last? I'm a little torn, after reading the glorifying reviews of fans who actually LIKE this crap. I actually read a pretty well written blog by a PG fan, who stated that while it's nothing like the "Attitude Era", the PG era is good because it's basically the best of both worlds. You get a little less swearing and bird-giving, but you get extended lives by not actually putting a real STEEL CHAIR or STEEL LADDER in that match. Bitch, I can tell that it's not real steel from a mile away. STOP CALLING IT THAT! Why can't they just be more honest and say "Hey, while this isn't a STEEL ladder, it still hurts like hell when you smack the shit out of someone's back with it, like Kane does here."?
With all of this info, why wouldn't you be PG?
Here's why: Seriously, who are you catering to? If you were catering to little kids, you'd be on during Saturday mornings, going up against such favorites like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (you bet your fucking ass I'm going to watch that reboot, btw!) and whatever comes on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel nowadays. So with that being said, screw the little kids. They're good for boosting Cena's self esteem. Otherwise, EFF EM. If there's anything I've (halfway) learned about WWE, it's that there are a TON of old school fans who are just about ready to riot over a good storyline. I mean, take Kendo sticks for example. That shit's gotta hurt no matter who you are. They don't even have to lie. The marks all over poor Sheamus's back stand for themselves. Sooo, my opinion is this: Maybe keep it just as safe (RIP Owen), but give me the damn middle finger sometimes. That shit is one of a heel's best moves. Also, it's totally okay to say more than "gosh darn willicky" in the ring. PLEASE, CAN A WOMAN GET A GODDAMN???
Ok, so while this is an 'opinion' piece... *hairflip*, I decided to try and research a little bit about what other people who actually LIKE PG wrestling had to say. I was given a half hour tonight of research time, since I have 3 questions I'll answer. Be patient, they're all awesome questions! Alright. "If your husband gave you a free pass, what wrestler would you like to nail the most? Past or Present" -Submitted by David Leavitt
Oh man. You're asking me who I'd bone if I had a free pass? ...OH but there's catch. I have to keep it wrestling related. Even that's a challenge, David. Well played. So my tastes are a little weird, I won't lie. I liked actors like Ed Norton before he played in Fight Club and became a pseudo fantasy dream for most women. So my choices may surprise you, or not. Here they are, in no particular order. CM Punk (I know, a lot of you just rolled your eyes and may not read on, but please do!), Jeff Hardy, The Big Show, Randy Orton, Colt Cabana (did I just hear a snicker?), The Edge, and Santino Marella. Yes, I said Santino. Deal with it. These are my choices. Here's why, in case any of you are wondering why. CM Punk, because he's just goddamn sexy. I don't care who you are, you can't deny it. I just wanna give him a shot of whiskey while appreciating both our lip rings, to make him understand that "The Other Side" is awesome. I have a pretty nice cookie. Jeff Hardy? Well duh. He's just the epitome of what I'd find attractive. Even up to the facepaint. But I'm not a juggalo lover. Wanted to make that clear. Big Show, OMG.. His smile is just the cutest. I'd be sure that smiles were all around. (Jeremy getting jealous yet?) Randy Orton, well... All chicks love that whole predator vs. prey thing. Don't lie, we all do it. That's all there is to it. It's not his muscles, or his tattoos. He gets a look in his crazy eyes, and his mat-pounding preface to his super-move is awesome because of that. Santino? WHY, you ask? Because!! He has some seriously sexily placed tattoos, for one. For another, he has an accent. PLUS the fact that I actually think he's super adorable. If I could make him blush (while evading his ridiculous sock cobra), I'd win all over the place. Even that sock cobra might come into play. Who knows? The other ones, well, I'll let you guess to why I dig them. I have real reasons. This segment just became longer than me or my husband wanted it to be. Hope you're still reading!

"Why do you think WCW failed?"
Submitted by Blake Ibrahim
So it's no lie, I didn't watch wrestling that much until my son started watching it back about '07 or so. That being said, the men in my life since then have been notoriously known to try and get me to understand the politics behind wrestling.
As this is my first post, I'll give you a little background of my own personal knowledge. I barely remember when the WWF logo was challenged and World Wrestling Federation ultimately lost and had to change their name to WWE. Did I watch wrestling at the time? Not really. Every now and then, I do remember it being on my television on rare occasions. The next wrestling reference from my life I can remember is when Stone Cold Steve Austin became huge, and we got the Austin 3:16 t-shirts all over the place in high school. I can also sorta remember nWo! I didn't watch wrestling at the time, but knew names like Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage (dude...RIP, yo), and Ric Flair... Of course there were others, due to friends who did watch occasionally in the past.
With this being said, here's my take on things. As a refresher for those of you who are still reading, I had 10 minutes of research time, and 3 questions I could ask Jeremy (publicly) after my research, to base my post on. So here goes:
My short answer? Poor management. Eric Bischoff may have had visions of what he wanted WCW to be like, but not everything came to fruition. First off, he gave complete control to certain big named wrestlers at the time, and let them book themselves. That's kinda ridiculous, if you ask me. Maybe I'm just a control freak, but if I were in charge of a business like this, I wouldn't just let these egotistical guys have full control of their own characters. I get why he did it at the time. He wanted to bring all the big names over to his company to build business, in the hopes that it would make them explode with awesomeness. COOL! It worked. For a bit. He even sweetened the deal with some of them by letting them choose their own destinies. That's an insane offer to a lot of people. But it was a total failure, in my eyes.
While he was busy paying on the honey pots he just created for the current big names (most of which would later bore the shit out of the audience with their long reign in nWo), he was ignoring a lot of the fresher talent, like Benoit, Jericho and Rey Mysterio. That's just to name a few. I do know though, that watching these (finally!) recognizable names, that was the biggest mistake on Bischoff's part.
So that's my Kasual opinion on this. I think that if Bischoff had the self control to actually MANAGE these maniacs, he might've had a little more success. Honestly though, with people like Vince Russo in the picture, it's hard to say that WCW would've ever been saved. I'm really just calling him out because I've been told that he made some seriously huge bad business calls. The name is unfamiliar to me (as of now). *Let the flaming begin!*
Then again, that's one more bad management call, in my opinion. WCW really would've died either way. Bischoff is, from what I've seen in the few documentaries I've seen him in, a pretty cool dude. He just made some bad business calls, and Vince McMahon is a total hardass when it comes to wanting something. It really could've been inevitable.
If you disagree, well then - this is MY barely educated opinion. I'm just a casual fan, tellin' it like it is. *hair flip* See you next week!
