First off, and it pains me to say this: Don't expect Brad to last very long. You see, Vince McMahon only put Brad in this role to spite the WWE Universe after they cheered Vickie Guerrero's firing. Usually, whether kayfabe or otherwise, when Vince McMahon puts you in a role for any reason other than his best interests... you usually end up losing that position faster than you got it. It was already shown last week that Vince doesn't like Maddox at all. Hell, Vince wouldn't even shake his hand. Brad is on an incredibly short leash, and we don't even know if HHH & Mrs. HHH are in his corner. This all spells bad news for our hero.
As bleak as things may seem, it won't be all bad. Anyone with a set of eyes can see that Brad Maddox is HIGHLY entertaining, and will bring a freshness to the GM role that Vickie & her X-Pac heat just couldn't create. Maddox's future interactions with guys such as John Cena, Daniel Bryan, The Shield (who don't forget gave Maddox the beating of his life last year) & The Wyatt Family will be gold. His promos? Brilliance. Brad Maddox once said he'd take Monday Night Raw from being good TV, to GREAT TV. Now, he'll be able to do that. Raw just got a little more watchable.
Something that made Brad's appointment as GM special was the look of total shock on his face when Vince announced he got the job. His ineptitude to run a show should be a major part of his persona as GM. Think about it: Maddox gets confronted by Dolph Ziggler & Alberto Del Rio at the same time: he should probably be shitting his pants at having to make a decision. Or what about when Ryback waltzes into his office? Think he'll still be upset about Hell in a Cell last year? Or... what about Randy Orton getting in Brad's face demanding a match? Brad Maddox should immediately lose his cool in any of these situations, and cower. And we'll all love it.
What the overall question here for me is, is how will Brad Maddox play into the feuding McMahon storyline? I could see him turning babyface at some point, facing off against Vickie Guerrero (who I see joining one/all of the McMahons in a large battle for the company) somewhere down the road. This, and not the Hell in a Cell swerve or the beating handed to him by Ryback, could elevate Maddox to superstardom. Seriously. Welcome aboard, Brad. I'll see you in Brooklyn for your big debut. Smile!
